You know what I’m talking about. There are “Friends” and then there are “Synthetic Friends”. Synthetic Friends Theory is the theory in which you are someone who has tons of friends that aren’t real. It’s like when someone is popular in high school. They have tons of friends, but none of those friends they have any real connection with you. I have a small group of super close friends, and this is what I consider REAL FRIENDS. My step-sister has the Synthetic Friends Syndrome.
Synthetic Friends give off the illusion that you are well liked and outgoing, when in fact those people are really most of the time, the most miserable, hated and withdrawn people in the world. They’re miserable because they know they can’t live without their synthetic friends. It’s also like people who have thousands of friends on myspace. How many of those people do you think they either actually know, or talk to, talk to even on the COMPUTER? Some people will now talk to someone on the computer who lives thousands of miles away than rather go across the hall in a college and talk to someone. It’s sickening sometimes.
The only upside to the entire situation is that you get tons of birthday gifts.
Hell, for a couple hundred bucks worth of crap, I could be somebody’s synthetic friend for a while.
