So I was at Flames Cafe today with my friend Aaron, and we were having lunch. As we read over the menu, he noticed that there was something on it that really seemed downright odd. At the bottom on the back of the menu, it read in small green type:
“Flames is not responsible or held liable for any lost/stolen items”
That wasn’t the weird part, the weird part was the SECOND half of that:
“Meal prices are subject to change”.
Does that mean that if say, a racist is working at a restaurant, and an african american or a latino comes in, and orders a $5 cheeseburger, the racist waiter could then say, “Oh sorry, that’s $500 dollars now”. I mean, what does that MEAN? That they can just change the price of meals based on a whim? That’s not fair.
And if SO, why can’t we apply this to OTHER aspects of life, such as, “Mark Wiland is not liable for what he says on this blog.” Or if I get a bad grade, I could just write on the paper, “Grade subject to change. Mark Wiland is not liable for this bad grade”. Or pregnancy, that would be the best time to have that sort of notice wouldn’t it?
“Sorry honey, as you can see by this binding legal document, I’m not liable for impregnating you, if you didn’t have a uterus, we may be in a different situation. And by the way, our relationship is subject to change.”
