Presidents & Space Shuttles

Posted in Uncategorized on October 3, 2008 by vandelayinc

So last night was the vice presidential debate, and despite the one or two things I’ve seen written in blogs about it, I’ve only heard it reported about on the news. I only know ONE PERSON who watched it. ONE. I haven’t even heard anybody TALK about it. Thus proving my theory that people care as much about vice presidents as they did about space shuttles. Remember back a few years ago, like, in the mid-late 90’s when they were showing space shuttle launches on television? Yeah, of course not, ’cause nobody watched ‘em.

Space shuttle launches were getting the worst ratings anyone had ever seen, which nobody could understand…for some reason. NASA eventually stopped airing them, as far as I know, because I don’t see anything about a space shuttle launch on tv anymore unless it’s about one that either has crashed, or one of the women on it wears diapers. Same thing with vice presidential debates, eventually they will fade out into blackness, nothing. They will become extinct. Like the dinosaurs. Except not as cool. Space shuttles and vice presidential debates are the two lowest rated things watched on television, and I can explain why for both.

1.) Nobody watches space shuttle launches because nobody is truly interested in science. People pretend to be, and these are those people you see in cafes wearing tweed jackets and discussing politics, those are the ones who pretend to be interesting. Then you got these fathouse housewives who need a cause the champion to seem like they’re a hero to their children, so they got after science only when it affects women. IE; Abortion, Stem Cell Research.

2.) And nobody watches vice presidential debates because nobody REALLY CARES about vice presidents. They hardly care about presidents, but they have to pretend to be if they want to be considered patriotic (read “unpatriotic” to see my views on politics lately), or not wanna be estranged from people they know. Why do you think Palin is getting so much attention? It’s not because people care, it’s because the news has nothing else to report. And what’re the odds that the President is killed suddenly and the vice has to step in? How rare is that anyway?

So there we go. That’s my theories and conclusions, all of which you know you totally agree with. The sad thing about all of this is that shows like Dancing with the Stars gets better ratings than a space shuttle launch. THAT’S depressing.
