So I went down to visit an uncle for lunch today, and I met him in a little coffee shop about 15 minutes away from where I live. It was a tiny little place, very bohemian, and I felt IMMEDIATELY uncomfortable inside. There were “trendy” people all over the place. I mean trendy in the worst way possible btw. I mean trendy as in like, EVERY WOMEN WORE SUNGLASSES OUTSIDE.
It RAINED today.
But enough about dumb women and sunglasses. So I go inside and not only trendy people, but just the sort of people you’d SEE in a bohemian coffee shop. Everybody looked SO fake. Their clothes and hair look like they’d just been ironed. Yes, hair. You can iron hair. Try it sometime. And then send me images of what happens. The thing that bugged me the most was of course, the ever popular, especially in LA (Santa Monica I’m assuming), TRENDY GUY WHO SITS IN COFFEE SHOP TO WRITE ON LAPTOP IN PUBLIC. I HATE these people. Why can’t they just write from their own bedrooms, like NORMAL writers? Do they hope someone will take an interest and sit down beside them, and a crowd will form and gather around to see what they’re writing?
I can’t explain why, but they just annoy the living HELL out of me. I’m a writer and I write in private, they write in public. I want to be left alone, obviously they’re more social. I give whoever reads my blog and enjoys it permission to shoot me through the face if I EVER begin to write in coffeeshops. And while we’re at it, don’t bring your child to a coffeeshop please, it’s just SO not cool. Being bohemian is cool, as long as you’re totally honest about being bohemian, don’t be a bohemian poser, or a a wannabeohemian. Yes, that is brilliant, and you agree.
Alright, be back monday.
