Because God Said So

I think I just realized that parents take all their rules from god.

I went to visit my friend who is having her sex change in January at the mall on Friday, and on the way there I saw outside a bunch of protestors that held signs against Prop 8. Almost every one of them had a religious thing to do with it, and marriage. One of them even said, “Marrying Homosexuals is against my relgion!”
Well dumbnuts, YOU don’t have to marry a homosexual. I noticed at this point that if the Catholic Church had a tagline, or like, a catchphrase, it would be, “Because God Said So”. Because everytime they have a problem with something, they use that. I love that you can get religion behind anything you hate to get it banned these days, because enough people believe in it as well to follow you. But it’s the same as parents. You ask a parent why you can’t go to a party and they’re response would be, “Because I Said So.” Same with Catholics. Because God Said So.

The EXTREMELY annoying part to all of this is that half the stuff that they say you can’t do, is the most logical stuff. It’s religion, it doesn’t have to be logical. Catholics will say something much to the effect of, say, “You can’t kill someone.” That’s called murder. UNLESS THEY ATTACK US FIRST. If a country attacks us first, they’re completely behind marching into that country and destroying their way of life. As Carlin (my mentor, although he’d HATE to be called that) once said, “More people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason”. Another thing is holy water. What makes one glass of water more holy than another? Because it was blessed? Okay, well then everytime you say “Bless you” to someone, they are then a holy man/woman. Also, they never allow women to be pope or priests, they always have to be nuns, so sexism runs rampant even in a place where “God loves everyone equally”, ya know, except for those they hate, like the jews and the blacks and women.
Some guy could get tried for something and still possibly get off because you get enough people of one faith on a jury, it won’t matter what henious crime that guy committed, they feel his “pain” and they love him for believing in “their” god. I honestly sometimes just need to rant, bitch and rave about these things.

And I wouldn’t have even written this post, except God said I should.

  1. Apparently, murder is justifiable if the victim disobeyed God. So if a guy stabs his parents to death because they’re brother and sister (a la The Seventh Sign, which is a very bad movie) and the jury consists of hardcore Catholics, they might let him off because he was doing God’s will.

Even non-religious parents tend to follow the Bible’s code of ethics because they were raised with it. This is a problem, especially because there are more ways to be a good person in the world than just by doing what the Bible says.

And congratulations on 3000 hits! It’s a reminder that, no matter how well you write, you will never be as popular as pictures of cats with badly misspelled captions on them.

  2. I was aware of my 3000 hits about 50 before it hit, and I realized that sadly, somewhere out there on the internet, a website that allows you to play a game as a penguin gets more attention then me.

I then broke down and cried.

ANYWAYS, yeah, there’s tons of loopholes in both the justice system (I know from having to deal with them for the past 7 years or so ’cause of my grandparents murder) and the religious system, which thankfully I’ve NEVER had to deal with, and I intend to keep it that way. I was once schooled by a bus driver while on the way home, and he told me suicide was a sin. I assumed assisted suicide was as well, and if that’s true, why would Jesus allow himself to be killed?

    Answer THAT for me.

  3. The Holy Spirit has compelled me to carry the word of God to you:

“Damn it, M@rk, now I’ve gotta convince some schizophrenics to rewrite the Bible AGAIN. Seriously, this is like the fourth time this has happened, and it’s really starting to piss me off. Stop pointing out gigantic holes in Catholic dogma and go back to your life of sin and depravity!”
