How come everybody tries to be a hero?
Have you ever tried to tell a lie to someone, not because you wanted to save YOUR ass, but because you wanted to save THEIRS? Yeah. Well that’s what screws things up. As much as you try and keep the truth from hurting someone, lying to keep the truth from hurting someone is even WORSE. Believe me, people would much rather hear the truth. I did this to someone over the summer. It was a HUGE mistake. They stopped talking to me for about two months, sending me reeling into a deep deep depression ultimately making me hate myself….well, more than I already do.
I have lied. I admit it. I have lied DOZENS of times. Teachers, parents, even friends sometimes, but that’s only when I really don’t want to do something we had already planned to do. However, I’ve never lied to HURT someone, it’s always for my OWN safety. My intention is to never harm someone else with my lies. Unfortunately we all know THAT’S impossible and they’ll somehow be dragged down by it anyhow, so whatever. This entry was inspired because someone very very dear to me lied to someone very very dear to her, and it just got me thinking about how I may treat people sometimes.
More of a philosophical blog entry than anything else, this one was.
And the title is so TOTALLY misleading.
