There are a few things people don with time that bug me.
The first being they always ask you what time it is. Strangers especially. Suddenly, you are obligated, you’re supposed to know this stuff, and what if you don’t have a time telling device stowed upon your person? You feel like a jerk! They asked you something and you can’t answer them! People need to stop throwing these little jobs over to you and expect you to just know. I DON’T HAVE ESP YOU FUCKERS.
Secondly, and this one REALLY pisses me off, someone will point at their wrist and say, “What time is it?” How am I supposed to react to that? Can I just point at my wrist sometime and go, “Oh my god, look at my wrist, I have to go!” NO. Doesn’t work, STOP FUCKING DOING IT.
I’m really just tired also with people who say, “My time is valuable” or “Time is money.” First of all, your time isn’t any more valuable than THIS guy’s time, ok Bobby Joe? You all have the same amount of time to live, roughly ’till you’re 80, and I’m sure he’ll be doing things that are just as important as the things YOU’RE doing. The other one was “Time is money” which is bullshit unless you’re on a time limit from work to accomplish something. If the company sends you somewhere, says, “We need this file by this time” and it’s all part of your salary, and you get docked whatever time you aren’t at the office for, and the person getting you the file is slow, or doesn’t know where it is, THEN it’s alright to say, “Look dude, time is money.” Other than THAT situation, time is not money. If time was money, everybody would be getting paid to breath, which they’re not.
I also hate people who say, “kids grow up SO fast”. NO THEY DON’T. There’s 18 years spanning there! That’s NOT fast! Anything with these time terms, such as the list below shows:
- Time is money
- My time is valuable
- There’s not enough time in the day
- Kids grow up so fast
- Time flies
- I don’t have time for this!
- You can do that on your OWN time!
- This time, it’s personal
I mean, there are two on there, the last two actually, that I’d like to dissect, if I may. “This time, it’s PERSONAL.” Isn’t it ALWAYS personal? Have you ever had sex with your wife, and then the next night had sex with her again and said, “Wow, it was a LOT more personal that time!” It’s a stupid term. And finally, the last on our list of time bullshit, “You can do that on your OWN time.” Teachers will tell you this one all the time, they’ll see you doing something in class that isn’t part of the assignment you’re supposed to be doing and say, “You can do that on your OWN time.” Well I don’t know about YOU, but I don’t HAVE my own time. I’ve only got the time to please others, to make sure everyone else gets what they need, the time to do things for other people. I’ve never got any time for myself.
And the time I DO have for myself is never enough.
Generally because I use it here, bitching about not having enough time.
I need to start rethinking my priorities.
