Felons, Irony & A Flambe Shi Tzu

Martha Stewarts puppy was killed in a blazing fire a few days ago, and ironically enough, AOL posted this news article under the section “AOLFood”.

I don’t know if I should laugh, feel bad, or crave vietnamese. Apparently, there was a fire at a kennel where and an explosion killed 17 animals. I knew I should have gone, I kept seeing fliers for the barbeque all over town but just couldn’t think of a side dish. Apparently, to make matters even MORE ironic, his name was Ghenghis Khan. Yes, Ghenghis Khan died in a fire with a bunch of puppies. It’s bad enough when a celebrity dies, there are tributes all over the damn place, the news and talk shows and whatnot, but when a celebrities PET dies, it’s just downright sad that THAT makes the news at ALL. And of course, this leads to the great unanswered question of generations…

Can you feel bad for a felon? It’s the same theoretical problems behind the Death Penalty. We kill someone because they killed someone, to prove to them that killing is wrong. So can we truly feel bad for felons? They’re committing crimes. But then again, so is the person who gave Martha Stewart a dog in the first place. That clearly is filed under animal abuse. I don’t think we should care about felons, let alone their lifelong furry companions, so this story just doesn’t hold any emotion for me. In fact, the only thing I found entertaining about the article was what I stated at the very beginning.

Now I have to go, I’m seriously craving an Irish Terrier.
