Ringo Starr Will Get All The Credit
The Beatles is the single most universally agreed “best rock band” EVER.
Therein lies a problem with that of course. When Michael Jackson-or ANYONE for that matter-dies, everyone comes out and celebrates their life. Why don’t you celebrate their life BEFORE that? You can’t tell them you love their music AFTER their dead! What the fuck? Anyway, here’s the problem. Of the four Beatles, Ringo Starr was NEVER the most famous. First, he replaced Pete Best as the original drummer. Groups of people held a candlelit vigil outside of Best’s house once he quit the band and chanted, “Best forever, Ringo never!” Even McCartney-when asked in an interview if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world-once replied with, “He’s not even in the best drummer in The Beatles!”
Obviously, Ringo is NOT the most influential when it comes to the music world compared to the other 3. But he’s still great, he’s just the least loved one, and it’s pretty much a FACT. But here’s something to think about, two of the Beatles are DEAD. Lennon & Harrison are gone, which only leaves McCartney and Starr. McCartney is getting up there in years, not looking too good. So what happens when he dies? Ringo will be the last one. And what will happen when Ringo dies? It will be the end of The Beatles COMPLETELY, which everyone will be SO sad about. But here’s the problem! Ringo-even though he’s the least influential of the 4, and the least POPULAR-will get ALL THE FUCKING CREDIT.
When he dies, The Beatles ITSELF as a WHOLE will be over, and Ringo will get all the credit because everyone’s going to be celebrating both his life, AND the life of the band. That’s either REALLY unfair to the rest of the band, or REALLY fair to him. Either way it’s a little ironic I suppose.
The other thing that’s ironic is that 2 of The Beatles didn’t live to be 64.
